3SI at ESTELAR project

The project runs from 2025 to 2027 and aims to modernise traditional electrical substations by integrating advanced virtualisation and digitalisation technologies, supporting Europe’s transition towards a climate-neutral economy.
The ESTELAR project (Effective Substation TEchnologies for Advanced viRtualization) is a €2.5 million initiative funded by the European Union. Running from 2025 to 2027, the project aims to modernize traditional electrical substations through advanced virtualization and digitalization technologies, contributing to Europe’s transition towards a climate-neutral economy.
ESTELAR focuses on three main technological pillars:
- Advanced communication strategies: enabling real-time integration between physical and virtual substation components.
- Robust computational framework: combining cloud and edge computing platforms to manage large data volumes and meet evolving computational demands.
- Modular and scalable digital substation architecture: incorporating digital twin technologies along with advanced monitoring, protection, and control systems.
SMART SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL INNOVATIONS SINGLE MEMBER P.C. is the leader of the activities related to the cybersecurity of the digital substation of the future and the definition of the monitoring and evaluation strategy for ESTELAR.
